A ginger tabby tucked into one green square, mid-yawn.

Big checks in forest green and cream, square after square, the way a classic floor is laid. One green square has turned into a bed, and a ginger tabby has pulled it up to the chin like a blanket: a red and green striped pillow behind its head, both paws in the air in a long yawn. It is not getting up yet.

Put it beside the bed, so the first step of the day lands on it. The green and cream are easy on pale floors and white walls; the cat takes care of the rest.
